Randburg at a glance
Randburg is an area located in the north west of Johannesburg and was founded as a town in 1959. Randburg is a large city in Gauteng and has over 32 suburbs, most of them residential. It is an upmarket area filled with many family friendly entertainment facilities and park like areas. Multichoice and its associated companies, M-Net and SuperSport, have their head offices in Randburg.
Strijdom Park is a well-developed commercial/light industrial area in Randburg, between the N1 Western Bypass and Malibongwe Drive. Strijdom Park has a substantial auto sales and repair industry as well as several other small industries that service the whole of northern Johannesburg.
Randburg has faced competition from Sandton which is normally the preferred location for businesses but offers lower rentals and property prices whilst providing easy transportation to the west and central Johannesburg. There are future plans to connect Randburg onto the Gautrain routes.
Randburg is well known for its plethora of shopping centres and entertainment areas, including the Brightwater Commons, Cresta Centre, North Gate, Sanlam Shopping Centre and various others.
Another fantastic attraction is the Lion Park. The lion park features 4 prides of lions of various ages as well as a number of rhino and other herbivores.
