Swindon has always worked to connect People and Property, but this week it worked to protect the people and the property of KZN.

As we watched in disbelief from our offices across South Africa, our hearts and prayers went out to the people, tenants, and landlords caught in the looting and destruction. In KZN, our brokers rose to the occasion, teaming up with volunteer neighbourhood watch and community efforts, and met the chaos head-on. We could not be more proud.

Thank you, Mac and Chris, for helping in Umbilo and Glenwood, Winston for hitting the streets in Windermere and Morningside, Matt getting involved in Kloof and Mike in Winston Park and Gillitts. These brave men have been patrolling the streets and assisting in blocking entry into suburbs. Even now, as the situation begins to settle, they continue to assist with surveillance. Not to be outdone, Angie, KZN's pint-sized Office Manager, stepped up to the plate to help in the distribution of fresh produce to old age and children's homes.

The efforts of our KZN staff to protect the property and livelihoods of others in their communities are an absolute inspiration. It is what makes us proud to be South African and proud to be a Swindonite.
